JACQUELINE AGIUS (b.19

JACQUELINE AGIUS - was born to an artistic father and his talent seems to have rubbed off on her. Drawing as a child was never a difficult task. Following oil painting classes in secondary school and several course at the Malta School of Art in Valletta, her paintings developed as the years went by. However preferring watercolours she painted away at buildings and landscapes, reflecting her ever day life and surroundings at the time. Upon the birth of her two children, painting came to a halt. It was only many years later that Jacqueline started taking pride in herself and once again, with the help of a couple of established artists, discovered that finding new ways of expressing herself through painting was very exciting indeed.

Today she finds painting outdoors very inspiring and visiting a new location always an intense experience. She held her first Personal Exhibition in November 2007. Her paintings reflect a life long fascination with the interplay of light, shadow, colour and form. The colours are vibrant and the light unmistakably that of sunny Malta. There is a sense of familiarity with them, whether these are chapels, street, country scenes, marinescapes or other places in Malta or Gozo. Above all her paintings convey an enthusiasm and delight in the world about them. Jacqueline has more recently become interested in acrylics and abstract painting.

She currently lives in Attard with her husband and their sons.

KIRBY CARUANA - PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPRESSIONS

KIEBY CARUANA

KIRBY CARUANA -  "While travelling allows to view the world with our eyes photography proves how little our eyes permit us to see."

In much the same way that writers, painters and musicians seek to evoke feelings through their respective media, Kirby Caruana seeks to share captured images through her lens.

Born in Malta (1984) and spending her early childhood in New York (USA), Kirby currently lives in Gozo, the sister island of Malta. A teacher by profession with an inclination towards the arts, her passion for photography originates during one of her Carnival visits to Venice some years ago. This festival of colour has initiated her photographic journey into various corners of the world, especially throughout Europe.

Over time, she had honed her skills both in capturing the moment and enhancing it with editing techniques, Merging two of her great passions in life, travel and photography. Kirby seeks to write her travelling using compelling images that express the feeling of a time, place, its people and culture.

Kirby Caruana is a member of the Malta Photographic Society.
